The Financial Underground: Why Twitter Holds The Real Insights

**Not Financial Advice**#1

Okay this is our first real post. so be hard on us please. (kinda)

The internet has created a sea of information and I’m a surfer. Between hundreds of news outlets, tv, the internet and social media there is almost an overwhelming amount of information at our fingertips. Now I try to keep up with the news as much as I can and I used to tell myself that I should stay off of social media. But to be completely honest the gravity of social media is almost overwhelming. Between information and entertainment every platform will have you glued. I always had an affinity for Twitter (now X) more then the others because I always felt that at least on there I felt I had a good range of content from news to sports and education. Then I stumbled upon the financial side of twitter and it fundamentally changed the way I invest but it is also teaching me how to invest. I lied, Kinda. It is not just teaching me but it is also giving me information. And I will provide a couple of examples of this.

The People

This is a screenshot from one my favorite accounts I follow on X @TheLongInvest

@TheLongInvest (X)

This screenshot is from a post on Jan. 14th 2025, which is relatively recent but I am telling you. He has been calling on $HIMS stock for several months well below the $25 level. I just happened to stumble upon his account back in late summer at the September dip. (yes I bought). Where is $HIMS now?

That's 134.84% YTD. Incredible! Now what I am not saying is just to blindly buy every stock you see on Twitter and other social media, doing your own due diligence is necessary but what I am saying is that it is a prime place to get investment ideas and information. It is the hub for retail investors (investors like you and me), the investors not on wall street, the guys who are not able to manipulate markets but are given the chance to make a buck because of guys like @TheLongInvest. He also has a (Patreon which I highly recommend). Oh also, You might just say “he got lucky” but your wrong because he has done this plenty of times. Go check it out for yourself. What makes guys like him so interesting is because he is not just shouting from the rooftops to buy the stock but he walks you through why, he is giving you the insight to why it makes sense. I am definitely an advocator for @TheLongInvest and (he is a special investor in his own right) but there are plenty of other accounts large and small that are teaching people how to invest everyday. There’s a wealth of knowledge.

The Information

Besides the charts and ticker information that is given out from accounts. Other information like stock news, whale activity and on-chain data is given out to the public religiously. Information that is not in the Wall Street Journal or Bloomberg business and is also not your crazy Uncle conning you into a pyramid scheme. Granted some of it is rumors. But that’s the point. it gets the wheels turning for people to do their own research and come to their own conclusions. Here are a couple examples of what I mean.

I cannot predict what $NIO stock price will be or if $ONDO (a cryptocurrency for those unaware) will actually tokenize private securities but has now been brought to my attention that the signs are their for new to be bullish and that there is a possibility for $ONDO. I can leverage this information to do my own research to see what is deemed to be true and what is not. Whether I believe this information is valuable or if it is garbage. What’s the quote? “Knowledge is power” (could not tell you who came up with that but great stuff because it is true). The more you know more holistic your view is around investments, opportunities and generally the more intelligent you are.

As well as expand on topics to bring a unique perspective and spark ideas. Think of us as your shortcut to the sharpest insights from the underground goldmine of twitter and socials. Oh and its free. All we ask for is if you enjoyed this please subscribe! (They won’t all be bloggy like this but a mix!) Thank you!

Cheers,

Thomas
